Fundamentals of Search and Rescue

INTRODUCTION

This class covers the basics of how to get started in search and rescue, the equipment needed, how to conduct a search and the basic skills of SAR. This course is ideal for the beginner and the advanced SAR volunteer. This course is also recommended for law enforcement, rescue personnel, pre-test for SAR TECH II, and entry level for anyone interested in Search and Rescue.

January 8-10 and 22-24 2010


This is a two-weekend class. You must attend both weekends to get credit.

COURSE INFORMATION

Classes will include:
Getting started, 1st aid, Incident management, Ropes and knots,Survival skills, Search tactics, Land navigation, Anatomy of a SAR mission
Man-tracking, Overnight exercise


COST

NASAR Course Fee:$70.00 **
NASAR SAR TECH III Test Fee: $10.00

** Effective June 1, 2009 course and certification fees increase to $55 for NASAR voting and non voting members. The fees increase to $70 for non-members. If a non-member joins NASAR at the time of a course or certification, and the membership fee is included with the course/certification fee, they will receive a $20 discount on their first year NASAR membership fee (normally $74) and pay the member rate for the course/certification. The membership fee to include is $54.
