NCCERT Called to Assist the Town of Apex

APEX NC -- As the fire grew out of control, and right in the middle of evacuations, NCCERT was called in to assist with providing communications to the Town of Apex for the EQ Plant Fire on October 06, 2006.

NCCERT immediately answered the call by providing highly trained communications personnel as well as a communications vehicle filled with hardware. This communications unit arrived on scene approximately one hour after the fire started. Personnel setup the vehicle to support Apex dispatchers and emergency communications for as long as needed. This quick mobilization of personnel and equipment allowed the communications dispatchers from Apex to seek safe haven and still provide the needed emergency radio communications to all responders on the scene.

This well coordinated effort between responders, town leaders and dispatchers provided much needed support and allowed teams to focus on taking care of the citizens rather than having to worry about how they were going to communicate or coordinate operations.
